THE PROPHECY

Daniel 9:24-27 Seventy weeks are determined for your people and for your holy city, to finish the transgression, to make an end of sins, to make reconciliation for iniquity, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy, and to anoint the Most Holy. Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the command to restore and build Jerusalem until Messiah the Prince, there shall be 7 weeks and 62 weeks; the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublesome times. And after the 62 weeks, (1) Messiah shall be cut off, but not for Himself; and the people of the prince (Jews) who is to come (2) shall destroy the city and the sanctuary. The end of it shall be with a flood, and till the end of the war desolations are determined. (3) Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week; but in the middle of the week he shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering. (4) And on the wing of abominations shall be (2,4) one who makes desolate, until the decreed end is poured out on the desolater.

(1) Messiah shall be cut off, but not for Himself; and the people of the prince (Jews) who is to come...

  • Yeshua HaMashiach died not for himself but as a sacrifice for OUR sins!

(2) ...shall destroy the city and the sanctuary. The end of it shall be with a flood, and till the end of the war desolations are determined. (2) one who makes desolate, until the decreed end is poured out on the desolater.

  • He became the “abomination (him who was hated) that caused desolation” - he willingly became the curse. He gave His life (body is the temple). Destruction came to the body/temple of the Messiah. A great earthquake came to the land when He was crucified, death was destroyed, and the Jews had desecrated their land by hanging Yeshua on a pole which allowed it to be conquered and destroyed by the Romans (Joel 2:25 says God sent the army, He brought about the destruction).

  • Proverbs 29:27 An unjust man is an abomination to the righteous, And he who is upright in the way is an abomination to the wicked.

  • Psalm 88:8 You have made me an abomination to them; I am shut up, and I cannot get out

  • Deuteronomy 21:23 You must not leave the body hanging on the pole overnight. Be sure to bury it that same day, because anyone who is hung on a pole is under God’s curse. You must not desecrate the land the Lord your God is giving you as an inheritance.

  • Galatians 3:13 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a pole.

  • John 2:19-21 Yeshua answered them, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up again” ... But the temple he had spoken of was his body.

  • Matthew 26:61 This fellow said, “I am able to destroy the temple of God and rebuild it in three days.”

  • Hosea 13:14 I will ransom them from the power of the grave; I will redeem them from death. O Death, I will be your plagues! O Grave, I will be your destruction! Pity is hidden from My eyes.

  • Joel 1:15 Alas for the day! For the day of the Lord is at hand; it shall come as destruction from the Almighty.

(3) Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week; but in the middle of the week he shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering.

  • His ministry, death (middle of the week) & resurrection “put an end to all former sacrifices”. He became the ultimate sacrifice.

  • His last appearance on earth to Saul was at the end of the "week" (7 years).

  • Jeremiah 31:31 Declares the Lord, “when I will make a new covenant with the people of Israel & Judah”

  • Luke 22:20 He took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.”

  • Hebrews 10: 8-10 “Sacrifices and offerings, burnt offerings and sin offerings you did not desire, nor were you pleased with them”—though they were offered in accordance with the law. Then he said, “Here I am, I have come to do your will.” He sets aside the first to establish the second. And by that will, we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

(4) And on the wing of abominations shall be... (4) one who makes desolate, until the decreed end is poured out on the desolater.

  • Yeshua was crucified not because of his guilt but because the people hated him so much, He was an abomination to them. He was crucified on both the wing of hatred and the wing of the city (hill of Golgotha). The Jews acknowledged His blood was on their hands.

  • Matthew 27... What shall I do, then, with Jesus who is called the Messiah?” Pilate asked. They answered, “Crucify him!” “Why? What crime has he committed?” asked Pilate. But they shouted louder, “Crucify him!” When Pilate saw an uproar was starting, he took water and washed his hands in front of the crowd. “I am innocent of this man’s blood, it is your responsibility!” All the people answered, “His blood is on us and on our children.”
